The sixth Belt and Road Summit jointly organised by the HKSAR Government and the HKTDC will be organised on 1-2 September 2021.  It is my great pleasure to invite you and members of your Alumni group to join the online Summit.

The Summit is an annual anchor event promoting business collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative. In the 2020 Summit, President of Indonesia Joko Widodo was the keynote speaker, and over 6,000 government officials and business leaders from around the world joined the event. Some 250+ projects were featured at the investment and business matching session, and a deal was reached between Indonesia industrial park developer Jababeka Group and Hong Kong Smart City Consortium. Prominent projects included a new Hong Kong Smart City launched by Amata in Thailand, NEOM the new mega city that is envisioned to drive Saudi Arabia’s green growth, a mixed-use development near Indonesia’s new capital city in East Kalimantan, and a Vietnam-Canada start-up’s blockchain solution in keeping track of carbon credits.

Under the theme Driving Growth Through Fostering Regional & International Trade, this year’s Summit will cover a broad range of topics including international and regional partnerships in trade and investment, dispute resolution, infrastructure financing, technology development, and new developments on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). As the global economy is showing signs of recovery, insights on these subjects will help businesses to explore new growth drivers.

This year’s Summit will be held virtually, with a wide variety of online broadcast for the plenary sessions and thematic breakout sessions, as well as virtual business matching and exhibition from the afternoon of 1 September till 3 September.  The latest programme can be viewed as attached.
