We cannot read a book for others, discover the world for others, but we can give others the chance to do so for themselves.

You now have the opportunity to make a difference for those who admire Harvard's name from afar and provide recognition for the strive for excellence. We need your support to (i) continue the annual Harvard Prize Book and (ii) support the Harvard Prize Book Scholarship for the many talented students in Hong Kong.

For over a decade, the Harvard Club of Hong Kong has awarded the Prize Book to students for their academic and personal excellence. We reach out to all Hong Kong secondary schools, both local and international. The Club awards a winner prize and up to two runner-up prizes to each school. In 2016, 191 secondary schools participated and 554 students were awarded book prizes. Our goal is to increase the coverage of schools year by year, through proactive communication with schools, especially less privileged ones, because we believe the Prize and the award ceremony instill confidence in students by recognizing their academic as well as personal achievements. With the new Scholarship and Mentorship programs, we now offer opportunities for further exposure and growth.

We hope to deepen the impact of the Prize Book and to find new ways to encourage, challenge, and inspire exceptional students in Hong Kong. In 2016, we offered the Prize Book Scholarship for the 2nd year to sponsor four top local students to study at the Harvard Summer School. The scholarship will offer them seven weeks at Harvard in the summer of 2018; these students will live and learn on the historic campus, share meals with peers from all over the world, study with distinguished faculty, conduct research, and make use of one of the best library systems in the world. The Scholarship presents an opportunity to change the lives of Hong Kong teenagers who are talented but may not otherwise have considered studying abroad or Harvard within their reach.

Donors of both the Prize Book and Scholarship will be invited to attend the award ceremony on Friday, 1st June, 2018 at the Auditorium of La Salle College, 18 La Salle Road, Kowloon, and will also be listed on the Prize Book page of our website according to the categories below unless you decide to opt out of this.
